mission & vision |
Youth voices. Bold stories. Radical compassion.
At Seatown Story Collective, our mission is to unlock our students' potential and passion while building a community of empathetic, inquisitive, and dynamic storytellers. We offer interactive, lived experience-based learning opportunities for middle and high school students, caregivers, educators, and school districts. Through workshops, public programs, and conversation, we are working for a future led by critical thinkers fueled by lifelong curiosity, civic engagement, and kindness. We are proudly Anti-Racist, LGBTQ-Inclusive, and committed to amplifying multimedia storytelling from historically underrepresented voices. |
our core values
We believe in the power of the first person. Our curriculum is rooted in the voices of writers, artists, creatives, and journalists with lived experiences in the stories they're telling. As educators, we see our role as facilitators in supporting students in uncovering the stories they are uniquely positioned to tell based on their lives and identities. We believe in amplifying historically silenced voices. Those voices include youth, people of color, LGBTQ community members, single parents, the disabled, the working class, the neurodivergent, the old, the people who put pickles on peanut butter sandwiches, and anyone else who has ever been told that it's not their time yet. We believe in the potential of young people. As former public school teachers, we know all students have fascinating stories and original ideas. We also know that all students are capable of learning and practicing what it means to be part of a community built on empathy, curiosity, and civic engagement. |
our curriculum
All Seatown Story Collective courses are developed by Jerome and Kristin, linked to evidence-based learning objectives, and supported by TED-Ed Student Talks. We center on-the-ground, lived experiences in all of our curriculum, always with the aim of unlocking potential and passion while building a community of inquisitive citizens. Our educational frameworks are built around academic, professional, and social emotional learning standards. We believe that skills like empathy, communication, and civic engagement should be foundational to all learning environments. let's collaborate Curious about our whole-human learning objectives or how our workshops can expand on your school's values and academic goals?
